I needn’t have done it. – Можно было и не делать этого (а я сделал).

Упражнение 1.
Переведите первую часть предложения на английский язык, используя модальный глагол need.
1. Вы могли и не ездить в центр: you could have bought everything you needed in the local shops.
2. Вы могли и не проверять правописание: the computer can do all the correcting.
3. Не надо было тревожиться за нас: you see that everything is ОК.
4. Незачем было ходить в библиотеку: you have only wasted your time.
5. Она может и не помогать: everything has been already done.
6. We have a lot of time at our disposal, и нам незачем спешить.
7. Я могу и не спрашивать его: he himself will tell me everything.
8. Можно было и не ходить туда, and we remained at home.
